Ayr Rugby Football Club

Ayr's BT Premiership match with Melrose was postponed on Saturday due to concerns about the playing surface at the Greenyards.

The decision was made just before kick-off to postpone the match as the pitch was too hard and would only get harder due to the low temperatures; player welfare is always the top priority, and the team was not prepared to risk their safety by playing full contact for eighty minutes on a partially frozen pitch.

Thank you to all the Ayr supporters who made the trip to support the 1st and 2nd XVs. We will keep you updated on the date for the rescheduled BT Premiership fixture.

The 2nd XV played Melrose 2nd XV at Batterydyke in BT National 1 and were beaten 36-26. The try-scorers for Ayr were Harry Warr, Stuart Collier, Euan McLaren and James Pinkterton, with Paddy Dewhirst converting three.

Millbrae RFC had an incredible 52-52 draw with Uddingston in BT West 2.

Ayr Ladies have a rest weekend.

The Ayr-Wellington boys play West of Scotland in the Shogun Conference across the weekend.

The BT Cup draw was made last week, and Ayr will play Hawick at Mansfield Park on Saturday 10th February in the quarter-finals.
