Ayr Rugby Football Club

Ayr Ladies will look to continue their rich vein of form when they travel to Broughton this Sunday. The girls sit second in the league on 25 points with Broughton in sixth with 9.

Last weekend was another triumphant one for the Ladies who sealed a 26-12 win over Garioch.

Robyn Gibson added to her sublime season tally early on with a lovely cut through the Garioch defence. Once through, she managed to palm off the covering tackle and run in. Catherine Shennan converted.

Garioch enjoyed the lions share of possession early on in the contest but a multitude of errors cost them when they worked into dangerous areas.

Ayr were revelling in the little possession they had and on the half hour mark managed to cross the try line once more. After multiple phases from the forwards, Ayr shipped the ball wide to Catherine Clark who was able to take full advantage of the Garioch bodies being sucked into the ruck and canter in unmarked.

With just minutes left in the first half Gibson managed to double up and stretch Ayr's control on the match. Once again she went to work out wide and was too fast for her opposite number to catch. Shennan nailed the touchline conversion to make it 19-0.

The interval was now looming but their was enough time on the clock for Ayr to muster up one more score. The restart landed in the stampeding hands of Jo Jones who punctured the defensive line and ran the full length. Shennan's conversion concluded the half at 26-0.

A proverbial game of two halves, Ayr's threat in attack slipped after the break but a resolute defence managed to keep Garioch at arms length and secure the victory.

This Sunday the ladies will look to emulate the attacking prowess from the first forty at Broughton.
