Ayr Rugby Football Club

Head Coach Peter Murchie has today announced his Slater Menswear Player of the Month candidates of January. Danny McCluskey, Paddy Dewhirst, Lars Morrice and Ruairidh Sayce are the lucky four who get the nod, with the winner receiving a £50 voucher for the Ayr high street tailor.

Danny McCluskey - The club's vice-captain has been an ever-present force in the backline once again this season and proved his credetials in the month of January with three solid performances. Famed for his ability both going forward and in defence, McCluskey has been the rock in midfield which has made Ayr so impenetrable. His sublime break against Hawks was able to set up his centre counterpart Paddy Kelly for the try-bonus which sealed top-spot in the league.

Lars Morrice - The second-rower has seamlessly transitioned into life at Millbrae and his presence on the park has been clear for all to see. A salmon in the air and a mongrel at the ruck, Morrice's combination of skill and aggression has epitomised the pack's hardy edge.

Ruairidh Sayce - In what has been a breakout year for the loose-head prop, Sayce has been able to cement himself in the number one jersey this campaign. An immovable object at scrum-time, his contribution has not gone unnoticed with multiple penalties gifting territory to Peter Murchie's side.

Paddy Dewhirst - The former Scotland U20s star has been red-hot in January. A lethal strike-rate of five tries in three games signifies his contribution to the squad - with a first-half hat-trick against Hawks the icing on an already impressive cake. He was named Slater Menswear Player-of-the-Match in that outing.
