Ayr Rugby Football Club

Melrose took their revenge at BT Murrayfield on Saturday, beating Ayr 23-18 in the BT Cup final. After Ayr's BT Premiership title triumph last week, it means Scotland's two best clubs share the season's spoils.

Ayr scored through two bullocking runs by winger Danny McCluskey and flanker Will Bordill (in his last game for Ayr, as he moves to London for work), with stand-off Frazier Climo adding a conversion and two penalties. But it wasn't enough as Melrose scored a try with 90 seconds to go. More in the match report.

It's been another tremendous season though, with the league win for the 1st XV, the Bill McLaren Shield returning to Millbrae, the BT Club of the Month award for January, the 2nd XV having their highest finish in BT Reserve 1, Ayr Ladies topping Premier B, and the continued success of the Ayr-Wellington youth section, with the U15 girls still to play their national shield final at BTM next weekend.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors for their unwavering support, our fans for their dedicated loyalty, our volunteers for their tireless efforts, our bar staff at Millbrae, our committee, our media team, our medical team, our coaches throughout every section of the club, the local community for getting behind us, and every single player who has pulled on a pink and black (and pink and dark green) shirt this year.

Now, let's celebrate at the end of season awards dinner and then get ready to do it all again in 2017/18!
