Ayr Rugby Football Club

After recently passing, Tom Thomson’s family have confirmed his funeral will be held on Friday 14thof June at 12 noon at Ayr Cemetery, followed by thanksgiving and remembrance at 1pm at St. Columba Church, Midton Road Ayr. Afternoon tea will then be at the Princess Royal Suite, Ayr Racecourse. The family have asked if those attending could wear their club ties or a splash of pink and black, in accordance with Tom’s love of rugby and the boys he coached.

There will be a collection in memory of Tom, with all donations going to Ayr Community Rugby Trust. Tom was a big supporter of the trust and its’ contribution to the community, working alongside them over the years.

A recognisable face at Millbrae over the years, Tom Thomson dedicated so much of his time to Ayr RFC. He started coaching his son Fraser’s team at primary 3 and led them to U16s as head coach – transforming them into one of the best youth sides to turn out at Millbrae.

He went above and beyond when it came to engaging with his youngsters and worked hard to create a family ethos – to say Tommy T’s boys were well looked after is an understatement. His drive to get the best out of those around him not only developed role models on the pitch, but young adults off it.

Ayr RFC will be forever indebted to Tom, whose determination and passion will undoubtedly live on through the lives he touched.
