Ayr Rugby Football Club

This is it. 19 games, 76 tries, 531 points and one gut-wrenching semi-final finale. Tomorrow the hopes of a town rest on eighty minutes of rugby.

Millbrae will play host to the 2019 Tennent's Premiership final between top seed Ayr and second seed Heriots. A carbon-copy of the 2016 final, Ayr fans will remember all to well the defeat they faced that day, and Peter Murchie's men will be hell-bent on righting wrongs this time out.

Both sides came to blows twice in the regular season, with one win a-piece. Against the norm, Ayr found victory away at Goldenacre before Heriots levelled the score a month later at Millbrae. The leg in the capital was played under the sun with dry ground underfoot providing the perfect stage for running rugby. In contrast, with the elements prohibiting expansive rugby, at Millbrae the Heriots' pack were able to overpower their counterparts.

It would be remiss not to mention the overwhelming difference between regular league matches and grand finals. Tomorrow there will be no second chances. No quarter given and the winner will take all.

With a whole host of entertainment going on and live music afterwards, it is set to be a cracker of a finals day.

There is only one change in the Ayr starting XV from what started at the Greenyards, with Stafford McDowall returning to Millbrae. He joins Warriors teammate Paddy Kelly in the midfield - a devastating duo who have never lost a game for Ayr or the Warriors when partnered in the midfield. With McDowall at 12 Danny McCluskey shifts to 14 for Robbie Nairn.

Two changes on the bench see Ollie Smith return after a week's rest and Ratu Tagive released from Warriors.

1XV: G. Anderson, D. McCluskey, P. Kelly, S. McDowall, K. Rowe, F. Climo, H. Warr; R. Sayce, R. Smith, S. Longwell, D. Corbenici, L. Morrice, B. Macpherson, T. Spinks, P. McCallum (C).

Subs: A. McGuire, E. McLaren, A. North, C. Reece, J. Preston, O. Smith, R. Tagive.
