It is a busy weekend for Ayr's Men's senior sides, with the Club XV away to Heriots and the Ayrshire Bulls at the Greenyards. For those not making the trips east and south respectively, the Ayr/Wellington U18s will be at Millbrae to take on Highland - with a win securing top spot in the Mitsubishi Conference.
The Bulls will look to kick-on from their 32-27 win over Boroughmuir Bears last Saturday. After two rounds with home comforts, they hit the road for the first time, traveling to face newly-named Southern Knights in the Borders. A rebrand of similar intention to ours, the foot of Eildon Hill has been a happy hunting ground for Peter Murchie. In his former role at Ayr he went last season unbeaten, downing the then-defending champions in the league and Scottish Cup Semi-final. He makes a few tweaks to his side, particularly in the backs. Craig Gossman comes in for Tom Lewis, with Rory Hughes exchanged for his Warriors teammate Robbie Nairn. Fellow Warrior Stafford McDowall retains the 12 jersey joining Tyler Beary in the midfield, replacing Danny McCluskey. Frazier Climo is dropped to the bench for Ross Thompson, who starts at fly-half.The pack is relatively unchanged from the one that played majority of last week, with Graham Geldenhuys in for Blair Macpherson. In the front row Nicolas Griffiths replaces Ruairidh Sayce. The game kicks-off at 17.30 and you can follow the action every step of the way on Twitter @AyrshireBulls.
The Club XV travel east to face Heriots Blues at Goldenacre. A disappointing loss to Kelso last time out will still be fresh on their minds, with tomorrow providing an opportunity to get back on track. It'll be no easy feat, with the capital side currently sitting second in Tennent's National 1. Some injuries have forced Head Coach Stuart Fenwick's hand, who selects an array of changes from last week's squad. Ben Cree comes in for Scott Clelland at tight-head, with Zander Howie entering the engine-room for Craig Brown. David Young is busy tying the knot so U18s star Cameron Young comes into the back-row. Congratulations David, from all at Ayr Rugby. Camie Black moves to nine replacing Matt Donaldson. A new midfield of Andy Morrison and Ewan Aitken sees the later make his debut. Skipper Johnny Mccorkindale shifts back to his familiar position of full-back. Jack Finnie, Iain Coleman and Nathan Gilmour come onto the bench, and will all make their debut if used. Craig Doolan returns from injury to complete the substitutes. The game kicks-off at 14.00 and you can follow the action on Twitter @OfficialAyrRFC.
Millbrae will still be in action, with the U18s hosting Highland. The squad all but confirmed the Mitsubishi U18s Confrenece last week with a historic win against Boroughmuir at Meggatland - a win tomorrow confirms it. Head Coach Bryan Crossan has named a strong side for the contest, with a scattering of Ayr Rugby Senior Academy players and Glasgow and the South prospects lining up. Their passionate leader, Michael Lafferty, captains the side.
